Dancing In the Moonlight - Vibe XXIII

VIBE FOR PHILO XXIII - DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT

The 23rd Vibe for Philo - takes place at the Button Factory, Temple Bar throughout the 3-4th January 2009. Tickets are currently on sale through Ticketmaster.ie and outlets nationwide. Limited edition picture tickets from Freebird Records, Sound Cellar & Mojo's.

It's that time of year -so here we go again! After much deliberation, the organisers of this critically acclaimed event have finally decided that this year’s theme will be Dancing in the Moonlight.

Vibe returns to the Button Factory from the 3rd to the 4th of January, with the Pre-Vibe, Main Event, and a repeat of the successful Matinee on the Sunday afternoon.

Being a weekend there will also be numerous side events, organized and impromptu, but more of that later.

We realize how little precious time there is left, and with Crimbo and the New Year Celebrations inbetween, January will be here before you can say Jack Frost ... Established acts such as Elvis Costello, Sinead O’Connor, and Adam Clayton were previous special guests and created enough optimism to convince everyone that this event is one that warrants much public appeal and signifies a most entertaining event for Lizzy fans old and new.

So far we know that the Lizzy Boys (Japan) are Ready to Rock on all three shows with a different set on each occasion, Hoodoo Rhythm Devils, MD  Brian Grace and numerous guests including Matt & Phil (Tizz Lizzy), John Conlon (Thin az Lizzy), Derek Herbert (Les enFants), Dave Mc Guinness (Lir), Colm Quirney (Q), Mark Adams, Paul Toal, Jimmy Coup, Ditch Cassidy, Robbie Bray, Ritchie Buckley and anybody else of interest with a good idea that props up between now and the event!

New Lady on the block - from New York City - with a brilliant Debut Album and a Top 40 single under her belt and flavour of the month with Ian Dempsey's Breakfast audience on Today FM - the charming Nell Bryden is also a huge Philo fan - having been fascinated and inspired by his writing technique.

No stranger to Ireland she has preformed to sold out shows nationwide.

Welcome on board Nell, who will render an acoustic set and  join the House Band for a ditty or two.

Other Acts on the Show include Emerald, who did an acoustic set some years ago but will go full-on electric on this occasion with some interesting versions of lesser performed songs.

Renegade will drop in and out over the "Happening Weekender" ... with a few other bands in mind for alternative slots for each event to spice things up and keep it interesting over the three shows would be the plan ...

"Audio Visuals will be present throughout, even though it’s hard to know what to feature at this stage as most people have built up extensive libraries over the years ... A few rarities and a few classics I'm sure will do the trick, as it will after all be the Gospel according to the Main Man that was Philip P Lynott ... The Boss of Irish Rock ... On a related subject - Chatting Today with original Thin Lizzy Manager - Terry O Neill he brought it to my attention that in 2011 when we are staging the climaxing 25th Vibe for Philo it will be exactly 40 years since they debuted  supporting Skid Row at The Countdown Club ... I was present on that occasion.

We might try and combine our efforts to stage something spectacular, but that's a thought for another day ... Let’s get this one done and dusted first and foremost..."

Excerpt from $miley’s blog @ www.vibeforphilo.com

Finally with the present depressing global financial situation kicking in, it's sure going to be rough times ahead in the coming year.

All the more reason why we should all let our hair down, turn on, turnout and turn up for the Happening Weekender that is Dancing In the Moonlight - Vibe 2009

DDIII - Dedication in Dumfries III

DDIII will be déjà vu - same system as last year -  Tizz Lizzy will be making a triumphant return after headlining the VIBE FOR PHILO of January 2008

Acoustic Lizzy - the acclaimed acoustic duo of Rich Davenport and Dave Rowley will again provide the light and shade, showcasing another side of Philip Lynott's songwriting talent

Bringing Tizz over from Ireland is an easy but expensive decision so this year's admission is £12 in advance and the same on the door

Our Guest of Honour, Philomena Lynott's appearance is alas, not guaranteed due to family commitments

We hope to see you all there to celebrate Philip's life and music

Glyder have reluctantly had to cancel at the 11th hour as they have been offered 10 dates in Scandinavia with radio and TV promotion for their appearance at Sweden Rock Festival in June ..... an opportunity too good for them to turn down.

"We are very, very sorry about this and its just bad luck that this coincides with DDIII, Sweden Rock is probably going to be the biggest event in our career to date and we simply cannot afford not to take up this promotional tour. We have thought hard about it and I think Phil has a few cards up his sleeve, it will be a great night and Tizz Lizzy, the Heroes of this year's Vibe are the closest thing to the real thing that I've ever experienced so it will be an amazing night".

Rock Legend

23rd July: The Temporary Forum has gone tits-up after the freeforums server upgrade (?!!)

The Rock Legend Forum wasn't the only one wiped and we had hoped it would be restored over the weekend.

11th July: The good news is with the help of our web-host United Hosting we have the forum recovered.

The not so good news is we've had to take it offline temporarily for maintenance and a security update.

In the meantime there is a temporary forum.

Thank You for your continued support and encouragement.

The Rocker - Documentary DVD

Great news also that The Rocker documentary produced by Shay Healy is finally to get a very welcome official release on DVD

THE ROCKER: A PORTRAIT OF THIN LIZZY’S PHIL LYNOTT:

The Rocker is an in-depth look at the life, career and tragic death of legendary rock star Philip Lynott, the founding member of Thin Lizzy.

Thin Lizzy’s breakthrough song, Whiskey in the Jar hit the UK charts in 1973. Its success was followed three years later by Jailbreak and The Boys are Back in Town, which became an international hit and fulfilled Phil’s dream of becoming a rock star.

This programme features interviews with Phil Lynott and his wife, Caroline Crowther, who speaks about him for the first time since his death; rare concert and television footage; clips from some of the great Thin Lizzy gigs, and classic Thin Lizzy videos.

With Phil’s mother, Philomena, Thin Lizzy members Brian Downey, Scott Gorham, Brian Robertson, Eric Bell and Gary Moore; managers Chris Morrison and Chris O’Donnell, and rock stars Jon Bon Jovi, Slash, Bono, Bob Geldof, Huey Lewis, Van Morrison, Mark Knopfler and Midge Ure.

26th February 2007

Today I received this message from Alison O'Reilly and decided to get my finger out and upload it here rather than just my usual lazy way of  posting it on the Rock Legend Forum @  http://forum.thin-lizzy.info

It's great to see Rachael looking so well now but I hope the last picture will still shock you - it shocked me

Hi there,
I was hoping you might be able to give my documentary a mention on your website.
'My Heroin Hell, Rachael's Story' about a 27 year old former heroin addict from Mercer Street in Dublin who is fighting an amazing battle to overcome her 14 year heroin addiction – and against the lack of provision for drug treatment and rehabilitation.
Rachael is a huge Thin Lizzy fan and went to meet Philomena recently at her home in Sutton.
The programme features Philomena and Rachael talking about Phil and Rachael visiting his statue on Grafton Street and his grave.

Programme details:

'My Heroin Hell, Rachael's Story'

10th March at 2pm and again at 9pm

Sky News

We will also be on the Late Late Show on 9th March

Background:
Rachael started taking heroin when she was 13, and began injecting at 15. At one stage, she was told she might lose her arms because of the damage caused by injecting heroin.
The astonishing pictures, published last July, shocked everybody. Now, after a series of often difficult sessions in treatment, detoxification and rehabilitation, she's on the threshold of a new life.
She's clean of drugs, and will appear in a one hour documentary directed by Journalist Alison O'Reilly from Drogheda.

'My Heroin Hell' is a story of pain, grief, despair, guilt, courage, determination and –ultimately – triumph. It is a unique insight into the mind and recovery of a heroin addict.
Rachael is heroin free for eight months and is currently in Keltoi rehabilitation unit in the Phoenix Park. She is also writing a book and hoping to attend Trinity College in September to study politics and psychology.

Thanks

Alison O'Reilly

Thin Lizzy: Thunder And Lightning Concert 1983

Due for release: 16/01/2006

"This is the long awaited Thunder And Lightning Tour; the tour that was to prove Phil Lynott's and Thin Lizzy's last.

The year is 1983, the venue Dublin and the stage is rocking. To add to the already charged atmosphere of a concert in waiting, we have fast-forwarded in time to include nostalgic comment from Phil's band mates Brian Robertson and Eric Bell recalling their eventful times together, plus the indestructible footballing legend George Best and musician Brush Shiels, recalling their many memories of the rocker and friend. But all this is merely a prelude to what is a pulverising gig containing all conquering favourites such as Whiskey In The Jar and Dancing In The Moonlight and many more. The Thunder And Lightning Tour is quite simply the greatest performance from a group who were at their electrifying best".
